About Our Service Delivery Model
Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic was founded in 1978. At the time, there were few medical resources for farmworkers and migrant laborers in the Pacific Northwest. Over time, we’ve grown into one of the largest community health center networks in the country. As a Patient-Centered Medical Home, we seek to bring quality, accessible care to medically underserved communities across Washington and Oregon.
At Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, nutrition services are integrated into our primary care model. Our team of registered dietitian nutritionists provides individualized support to patients, translating nutrition science into practical tools that help people live healthier lives. Primary care nutrition services at our clinics include:
- Management of digestive issues and food allergies
- Prevention and management programs for conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes
- Weight management
- Information and referral for community food resources
- Interactive cooking classes in our teaching kitchens
Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic offers a host of programs to provide wraparound services and support to our communities. Pregnant patients, new moms, and children aged five and under can access healthy food and nutrition education through our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Through our WIC services, we’ve helped 30,000 people get the food they need to help their growing families stay healthy.
We also provide educational programming for people enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The SNAP-Ed program at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic combines classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations and trips to grocery stores and community gardens, teaching participants how to stretch their food dollars and eat healthier.

Where we live
Working at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic means living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. You will have the opportunity to enjoy spectacular wilderness areas, scenic ocean beaches, and crystal-clear lakes and rivers. Because of the Cascade mountain range, the Northwest has two distinct climates: the west side is lush and green. Eastern Washington and Oregon, shielded from the rain-filled clouds by the high mountains, tend to be sunny and arid.
The two climates enable farms and orchards to produce a bounty of different fruits, berries, and vegetables. And with 22 appellations, Washington and Oregon are also celebrated for their world-class wines. Washington is also one of the largest hops growing regions in the world.
No matter where you live in the Pacific Northwest, you will be within an easy drive to a thriving metropolitan area, offering fine shopping, theatres, museums, and galleries. The area also boasts progressive public and private schools and world-class universities.
