Billing Clerk

Processes payment related activities such as posting payments and refunding overpayments.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities/Duties 

  • Collects patient and payor information for the purpose of managing inaccurate payments.
  • Navigates payor sites to determine payment activity.
  • Enters payment related transactions in the billing system per established billing procedures.
  • Keeps records of billing activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). 
  • Experience: Six months’ experience in a business office setting. Experience in customer service and/or data entry preferred. 
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Word and Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Customer relations skills preferred. Knowledge of data entry and benefits codes preferred.
